The simplest way to
Extend Your Visa

If you are interested in:
any Visa extension,
fill in your info, and we will contact you shortly:

A visa extension is an official approval from the Thai Immigration Bureau allowing you to stay in Thailand longer than your current permission date.
It’s not a new visa, but a continuation of your existing stay. Extensions are usually for 30 or 60 days, depending on your visa type.
SiamConsult prepares and submits all paperwork accurately to ensure your extension is approved smoothly and on time.

1. Extension under Visa Exemption / Tourist Visa
  • Visa Exemption: up to 60 days’ stay upon arrival (depending on nationality).
  • Extendable by 30 days at Immigration, bringing your stay to 90 days total.
  • Single-Entry Tourist Visas grant 60 days per entry, extendable by 30 days.
  • Multiple-Entry Tourist Visas allow for 60 days per entry, which can also be extended by 30 days.
  • Extensions are subject to the officer’s discretion and supporting documents.
2. Limits and Risks on Visa Runs
  • Overland (land border) entries are typically limited to two times per calendar year for visa-exempt travelers.
  • Air entries are less restricted, but still subject to Immigration review.
  • Repeated visa runs may lead to questions or possible denial of re-entry if Immigration believes the system is being misused.
  • Always carry proof of funds, accommodation, and travel plans when re-entering Thailand.
3. What You Receive on Re-Entry
  • Upon re-entry, most travelers receive a new 30-day or 60-day stamp, depending on nationality.
  • Some visa runs permit an additional 30-day extension upon re-entry, allowing for a total stay of up to 90 days.
  • Actual duration depends on the Immigration policy at the border or airport on that day.
4. New Visa Options
  • The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) allows stays of up to 180 days, extendable for an additional 180 days.
  • Other long-stay options include Non-B (Business), Non-O (Family/Retirement), ED (Education),
LTR (Long-Term Resident), and Elite Visa memberships.
  • DTV and LTR are ideal for digital nomads or remote professionals planning extended stays without frequent visa runs.
5. Overstay Penalties — Avoid at All Costs
  • Overstaying beyond your permitted stay is illegal in Thailand.
  • Fines apply per day, and repeated overstays may result in entry bans.
  • Always renew or exit before your visa expires to maintain a clean immigration record.

Most visas can be extended:

Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption: +30 days

Non-Immigrant Visa (B, O, ED, Retirement): up to 90 days or 1 year

LTR and Smart Visas: renewable under their own programs
However, Transit Visas cannot be extended. SiamConsult reviews your current visa type and advises you on the correct procedure for your case.

Yes. This is one of our most popular services in Phuket, Krabi, Ao Nang, Koh Lanta, and nearby areas.

If you prefer to stay by the beach, we can collect your passport, prepare all necessary paperwork, and submit your application on your behalf at Krabi Immigration.

Your passport needs to be present for the stamp. You sign the forms in advance and relax — we pick up, handle the queue, fees, and official stamping.
Your passport is returned to you, usually within 24–48 hours, with a new 30-day extension stamp.

This service is ideal for travelers who wish to avoid uncomfortable travel and time-consuming transportation with bureaucracy in a foreign language, including long queues, heat, and cultural differences.

Tourist Visa holders (or visa-exempt entries) can apply for a single 30-day extension, allowing you to stay legally for up to 90 days in total.

If you wish to stay longer, SiamConsult can assist in converting your stay to a Non-O (Family) or Non-ED (Education) visa before your last day.

A visa run occurs when you exit Thailand before your stay expires and then re-enter with a new visa or a fresh entry stamp.

It’s commonly used when you’ve already extended your stay but need extra time or want to apply for a new visa abroad.

Visa runs are perfectly legal and part of normal long-stay travel management in Thailand.

Summary

From Southern Thailand, the most time-efficient visa options are:

  • Ranong for one-day visa runs

  • Penang for full visa applications

  • Savannakhet or Vientiane for Non-B or Non-O visas

  • Singapore for premium embassy services and long-stay visas

SiamConsult handles every detail — from document preparation and embassy coordination to border logistics and hotel booking — ensuring your visa trip is fully organized, compliant, and stress-free.

For Krabi, Ao Nang, and Phuket residents, bus runs are fast and affordable.

Our private van departs early morning to Ranong or Sadao. You exit Thailand, enter the neighboring country, and re-enter the same day with a new stamp.

We prepare your border forms, advise on entry fees, and ensure your re-entry stamp is correct before returning you safely home that evening.

Thailand offers several types of visa extensions depending on your current entry and purpose of stay:

15-Day Extension – Granted in exceptional cases such as flight cancellations, medical delays, or document processing. You’ll need to provide supporting evidence. SiamConsult prepares the explanation letter and submits it on your behalf.

30-Day Extension – The most common for tourists and visa-exempt visitors. It adds another whole month to your stay. We can even process this for you without you having to leave the beach — sign the forms, and our courier will take your passport to Immigration and return it within 24–48 hours.

60-Day Extension – For foreigners visiting or living with a Thai spouse, child, or parent. Requires proof of relationship (marriage or birth certificate, Thai ID, etc.). SiamConsult handles the translations, certifications, and submission to ensure approval.

Suppose you have already used all available extensions or plan to stay longer for business, study, or family purposes. In that case, SiamConsult arranges your next step — a new visa from a Thai Embassy abroad (Penang, Vientiane, or Singapore), including flight booking, hotel, and complete application preparation.

With our guidance, you always know exactly which extension or visa option is right for your situation, and your stay remains fully legal.

Yes. Thai Embassies in Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore regularly issue new Non-Immigrant and Tourist Visas.

We prepare all invitation letters, company documents, or school confirmations before you leave Thailand — ensuring your application is accepted and processed without delay.

15-Day Extension — Temporary or Emergency Stay

The 15-day extension is for short-term or unexpected situations, such as:

  • Flight cancellations, delays, or rescheduled travel
  • Health or medical reasons (with hospital certificate)
  • Waiting for embassy documents or new passport issuance
  • Natural disasters or temporary border closures

Required Documents:

  • Passport with a valid entry stamp
  • Completed TM.7 Extension Application Form
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Supporting letter (prepared by SiamConsult if needed)
  • 1,900 THB government fee

Processing Time: Usually the same day, depending on the Immigration queue.
SiamConsult prepares your explanation letter, coordinates with Immigration, and ensures your short extension is granted quickly and professionally.

30-Day Extension — Tourist & Visa-Exempt Entries

This is the most common extension, ideal for travelers who enjoy a more extended holiday or are preparing for their next visa application. It applies to:

  • Tourist Visa (TR) holders
  • Visa Exemption entries (30 or 45 days)

The 30-day extension adds another month to your legal stay, extending your visit to up to 90 days in total.

You will need:

  • Passport with a valid entry stamp
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Completed TM.7 form
  • TM.6 arrival/departure card (if issued)
  • 1,900 THB Immigration fee

Processing Time: 15–30 minutes once your number is called at Immigration.

Prefer to stay on the beach?
SiamConsult offers a passport pickup service in Krabi, Ao Nang, and Koh Lanta:

  • We collect your passport directly from your hotel or villa.
  • Our visa team completes all paperwork, photos, and payment.
  • We will submit your application to Krabi Immigration on the next working day.
  • Your passport is returned within 24–48 hours, with your new 30-day stamp — ready to continue your stay without ever leaving the beach.

All documents are signed and prepared in advance, so your extension is fully compliant and handled by licensed staff familiar with Immigration officers and procedures.

60-Day Extension — Family or Relationship-Based Stay

The 60-day extension applies if you are visiting or living with a Thai spouse, child, or parent.
It’s part of the Non-Immigrant “O” category and is ideal for foreigners who wish to stay longer while maintaining a family connection.

You will need:

  • Passport with a valid entry stamp
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Completed TM.7 form
  • 1,900 THB Immigration fee
  • Marriage or birth certificate (official translation if not in Thai)
  • Copy of a Thai family member’s Thai ID card
  • Copy of house registration (Tabien Baan)
  • Photos of you and your family together (home or residence photos)

Processing Time: Normally 1 working day (some cases require an interview or document verification).
SiamConsult assists with translation, document certification, and prepares a proper family verification file to ensure approval on the first submission.

When a New Visa is Needed Instead of an Extension

Suppose your current visa has already been extended or your stay purpose has changed (for example, from travel to business or education). In that case, you will need to apply for a new visa from a Thai Embassy abroad.

SiamConsult handles the entire process — preparing all company, family, or school documents and organizing your trip:

  • Penang, Malaysia – Quickest consulate for Non-B, Non-O, and Education visas
  • Vientiane or Savannakhet, Laos – Common for Marriage and Retirement visas
  • Singapore – Preferred for business and long-term visa applicants

We arrange your flights, hotel bookings, embassy appointments, and complete application packages, so you can submit your visa request confidently and return to Thailand legally and smoothly.

Whether you visit our office or relax by the beach while we take care of everything, your stay in Thailand remains fully compliant and perfectly managed from start to finish.

If you visit the Immigration Office yourself, expect 15–30 minutes after your number is called.
If we handle the process for you, your passport is normally ready the next working day with the new 30-day stamp — you don’t need to queue or wait at Immigration at all.

Tourist visa and visa-exempt entry

Tourist Visa (TR) and visa-exempt entries can be extended once per entry for an extra 30 days at Immigration. After that you must exit Thailand and either apply for a new visa at a Thai Embassy or re-enter visa-exempt if your nationality allows it.

Example: enter on a 60-day Tourist Visa → extend 30 days → total 90 days. You cannot extend the same entry again.

Non-immigrant visas (B, O, ED, Retirement)

  • Non-B (business or employment): renewed yearly with valid company, tax, payroll, and labour compliance.
  • Non-O (marriage or family): renewed yearly with marriage or family proof and required bank balance (400,000–800,000 THB, depending on category).
  • Non-ED (education): renewed every 90 days with school attendance and Ministry of Education confirmation.
  • Retirement (Non-O or Non-OA): renewed yearly with 800,000 THB in a Thai bank or 65,000 THB monthly pension income.

SiamConsult verifies documents, prepares the application, and represents you at Immigration for a clean, on-time renewal.

90-day reporting (TM.47)

Anyone staying in Thailand longer than 90 days without leaving must file a TM.47 address report. This is not a visa extension. It can be filed in person, online, or by registered mail. SiamConsult can submit the report for you and monitor the schedule.

Visa run limitations and entry restrictions

Visa runs are monitored. Officers assess patterns to prevent long-term residence on short-stay entries. Practical guidance as of 2024–2025:

  • Land borders: most nationalities are allowed up to two visa-exempt entries per calendar year. Enforcement can vary depending on the officer and location.
  • Air arrivals: no fixed number, but frequent short entries can trigger questions or refusal.
  • Same-day runs: possible, but repeated use may be treated as border-run living.
  • Back-to-back tourist visas: Embassies or Immigration may refuse if long-term intent is suspected.

Officers may request proof of onward travel, accommodation, funds, and a clear reason for return. If you have used multiple visa runs, consider switching to a suitable long-stay visa. SiamConsult advises on the safest route and prepares the whole file.

When to extend, renew, or travel for a new visa

  • Extension: inside Thailand, adds 15, 30, or 60 days to your current stay.
  • Renewal: inside Thailand, maintain your long-term status for 90 days or one year.
  • Visa run or new visa: outside Thailand, used to reset stay or change category at a Thai Embassy.

Nearby embassies and consulates commonly used: Penang (Malaysia), Vientiane or Savannakhet (Laos), and Singapore. SiamConsult arranges flights, hotel, appointments, and a complete application set.

Tracking, reminders, and full handling by SiamConsult

  • Record of visa expiry, 90-day reports, extensions, renewals, and border runs.
  • Advance reminders before each due date.
  • Document checking, translations, certifications, and Immigration representation.

You focus on life and business in Thailand while we manage timing, documents, and compliance from end to end.

Overstaying is a serious offense in Thailand.
You’ll be fined 500 THB per day (up to 20,000 THB) and risk deportation or blacklisting for longer overstays.

We strongly recommend contacting us before your expiry date — SiamConsult ensures your stay remains completely legal and penalty-free.

Yes. In most cases, you can legally change your visa type while remaining inside Thailand, without traveling abroad.

This process is officially called a “change of visa status” and must be completed before your current visa or permission to stay expires. SiamConsult prepares your full application, arranges supporting documents, and represents you directly at Immigration to ensure your change of status is approved smoothly and on time.

When and why you might change your visa type

There are several reasons foreigners choose to change their visa without leaving Thailand:

  • You entered on a Tourist Visa but have since found employment or started a company.
  • You are married to a Thai national and wish to switch to a Non-Immigrant O (Marriage) visa.
  • You enrolled in a licensed school or university and now qualify for an Education (ED) visa.
  • You are approaching retirement age (50+) and wish to convert to a Retirement Visa.
  • You have obtained a job offer or BOI approval and need a Non-B (Business) visa to apply for your work permit.

Changing your visa type in Thailand saves time, avoids international travel, and maintains your continuous legal stay.

Who is eligible to change visa type inside Thailand

You may apply to change your visa type if you still have at least 15 working days remaining before your current permission expires and your reason for stay qualifies under the Immigration rules. Typical eligible cases include:

  • Tourist Visa → Non-Immigrant B (Employment or Business)
  • Tourist Visa → Non-Immigrant O (Marriage or Dependent)
  • Tourist Visa → Non-Immigrant ED (Education)
  • Tourist Visa → Non-Immigrant O-A or O-X (Retirement)

If you entered visa-exempt (without a visa), you must first convert your stay to a Tourist Visa before upgrading to a Non-Immigrant category. SiamConsult handles these multi-step conversions precisely and in full coordination with Krabi and Phuket Immigration Offices.

Documents normally required

While document requirements vary by category, a typical conversion file includes:

  • Passport (valid at least 6 months)
  • Copy of entry stamp and visa sticker
  • TM.6 arrival/departure card (if issued)
  • TM.7 visa change form
  • One passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Supporting documents based on your new visa type:
    • For Non-B: Company registration, tax papers, invitation letter, and employment contract.
    • For Non-O (Marriage): Thai marriage certificate, spouse’s ID, and house registration.
    • For Non-ED: School license, MOE approval letter, class schedule, and tuition receipt.
    • For Retirement: Proof of funds or monthly pension income.

SiamConsult prepares all forms, certifies documents, and ensures compliance with both Immigration and Labor Ministry standards.

Processing time and approval

Processing usually takes 3–10 working days, depending on the Immigration Office and visa category. In some cases (e.g., Business or Marriage visas), Immigration may request a short interview or inspection, which our team coordinates and attends with you.

Once approved, your passport receives a new Non-Immigrant visa stamp.

Marriage Visa: Requires Thai marriage certificate, spouse ID, photos together, and home registration.

Retirement Visa: Requires proof of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank or 65,000 THB/month pension confirmed by embassy letter.

We ensure all financial and personal documents meet Immigration standards before submission.

Yes. Students who are studying at a licensed and Ministry of Education (MOE)-approved school in Thailand can extend their Education (ED) visa legally inside the country.

This process is designed for students who wish to continue their studies beyond the initial visa period and maintain continuous legal status without leaving Thailand. SiamConsult coordinates directly with schools and Immigration to ensure each extension is approved smoothly and on time.

1) Who can extend an Education (ED) visa

You are eligible to extend your ED visa if you are:

  • Enrolled in a language school, university, or educational institution recognized by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
  • Attending classes regularly and meeting the minimum attendance requirements (usually 70–80%).
  • Holding a valid Non-Immigrant ED visa that is not yet expired.

Most ED visas are initially granted for 90 days and can be renewed in 90-day increments as long as you continue studying and provide proof of attendance.

2) Documents required for an ED visa extension

Each renewal requires updated records from your school and supporting documents for Immigration. The typical documents include:

  • Passport with valid ED visa and the latest entry stamp.
  • Completed TM.7 visa extension form.
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm).
  • Letter of enrolment and attendance certificate from your school (updated and signed).
  • School’s MOE license copy and location map.
  • School letter confirming your class schedule and payment of tuition fees.
  • Copy of TM.6 arrival/departure card (if issued).
  • 1,900 THB Immigration fee.

SiamConsult works closely with accredited schools to collect and verify all paperwork before submission, ensuring your file meets Immigration standards and is accepted on the first attempt.

3) Attendance and progress requirements

Immigration officers require schools to submit attendance reports and course progress for every student. If you miss too many classes or fail to attend regularly, your extension can be denied. SiamConsult verifies your attendance record with your school before submission and helps resolve any issues with documentation or missed days.

4) Extension process and timeline

The standard ED visa is granted for 90 days and can be extended repeatedly until you complete your program. Each renewal must be filed before your current permission expires. Typical processing time is 3–5 working days, depending on your school and the Immigration Office workload.

  • Step 1: School prepares updated documents and sends them to SiamConsult.
  • Step 2: SiamConsult reviews and completes the TM.7 form and attachments.
  • Step 3: Application is submitted to Krabi or Phuket Immigration for processing.
  • Step 4: Passport is returned with the new 90-day stamp and updated stay validity.

5) Common reasons for rejection or delay

  • Incomplete or expired school license or MOE letter.
  • Irregular attendance or no proof of ongoing study.
  • Applying too close to the expiry date (less than 7 working days remaining).
  • School not recognized by MOE or suspended from Immigration registration.

SiamConsult reviews all documents early and communicates with Immigration officers to prevent these issues before they occur.

6) After approval and next renewals

Once approved, your passport will receive a new 90-day stay stamp. You must continue studying and maintain attendance for future renewals. Each subsequent extension follows the same procedure until your course is complete. If you later change schools, a new MOE letter and transfer documentation will be required — SiamConsult assists with these transitions as well.

7) SiamConsult’s full support for ED visa students

  • Verifying MOE approval and school compliance.
  • Preparing and filing all extension documents.
  • Coordinating appointments and passport handling.
  • Ensuring your visa remains valid throughout your studies.

With over 16 years of experience assisting students in Krabi, Phuket, Ao Nang, and across Southern Thailand, SiamConsult ensures your education visa is maintained lawfully and without interruption — so you can focus fully on your studies and life in Thailand.

Yes, Immigration can issue a temporary stay extension while your new passport is in process.
Once your new passport is ready, the visa is transferred. SiamConsult liaises directly with your embassy and local Immigration Office to keep your stay uninterrupted.

Yes. Every foreigner who stays in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days must submit a TM.47 – 90-Day Report to confirm their current residential address.

This requirement applies to everyone — including those with valid visa extensions, yearly renewals, or long-term visas such as Non-B, Non-O, ED, Retirement, or LTR. It is a legal obligation under the Immigration Act, separate from visa extensions or work permit renewals.

1) Purpose of the 90-day report

The 90-day report allows the Immigration Bureau to maintain an accurate record of all foreigners residing in Thailand. It does not change your visa validity or affect your permission to stay — it simply confirms your address and ensures your record remains active in the Immigration system.

2) Who must file a 90-day report

  • All foreigners who have stayed in Thailand for 90 days or longer without leaving the country.
  • Holders of Non-Immigrant, Retirement, Education, or Business visas.
  • Visa-exempt or Tourist Visa holders are not required to file unless they have converted to a long-term visa and exceeded 90 consecutive days in Thailand.

3) How to count your 90 days

The 90-day period begins on the day you enter Thailand (the day you are stamped at Immigration) or the date of your last report submission. If you leave Thailand and re-enter, the count resets to zero upon your new entry. Even if your visa is valid for one year, the TM.47 must still be filed every 90 days within that period.

4) Accepted methods of filing

You can report your address through any of the following approved channels:

  • In person at your local Immigration Office (e.g., Krabi Immigration Office).
  • By authorized representative — SiamConsult can handle this for you with a signed copy of your passport.
  • By registered mail (documents must arrive at Immigration 7 days before the due date).
  • Online via the official Thai Immigration Bureau website — available for certain visa categories.

5) Documents required for in-person filing

  • Completed TM.47 Report of Residence Form.
  • Original passport and a photocopy of the ID page, latest visa stamp, and entry stamp.
  • Copy of your current departure card (TM.6) if issued.
  • Completed acknowledgment receipt (issued by Immigration for next report).

When SiamConsult handles your report, we prepare all required copies, complete the TM.47 form, and submit it directly to Krabi Immigration on your behalf.

6) Deadlines and penalties

The report must be submitted within 15 days before or 7 days after the 90-day due date. Failure to report within this window can result in:

  • A fine of 2,000 THB if you report late.
  • A fine up to 5,000 THB if you are arrested for not reporting.

These penalties do not affect your visa directly but may cause complications when extending or renewing your stay. SiamConsult monitors your deadlines to ensure this never happens.

7) Automatic reset when leaving Thailand

If you leave Thailand (for example, for a visa run, business trip, or holiday), your 90-day count resets when you return. The new 90-day period begins from your latest re-entry date. We recommend always checking your new stamp on arrival to calculate your next due date accurately.

8) SiamConsult’s 90-day report management service

We include 90-day reporting as part of our visa maintenance program. Our service includes:

  • Tracking and recording all reporting deadlines.
  • Filing your TM.47 on time (in person or via authorized representative).
  • Deliver your acknowledgment receipt to your residence or office.
  • Providing advance reminders by email or phone before your due date.

With SiamConsult, you never need to remember your 90-day schedule or stand in line at Immigration. We take care of all reporting, paperwork, and follow-up — keeping your stay 100% legal and worry-free.

Because timing, accuracy, and local experience truly matter when dealing with Thai Immigration.

SiamConsult has over 16 years of proven experience assisting foreigners, residents, and business owners across Krabi, Ao Nang, Koh Lanta, Phuket, Phang Nga, and Southern Thailand. We understand the procedures, the officials, and the local context — ensuring your visa and immigration matters are handled precisely, lawfully, and stress-free.

Full border run and embassy coordination

Whether you need a same-day border run or a full embassy visit abroad, SiamConsult plans and manages your trip from start to finish:

  • Border runs by land — Ranong, Sadao, or Padang Besar crossings with driver and document assistance.
  • Visa trips by air — Penang (Malaysia), Vientiane (Laos), Savannakhet (Laos), or Singapore for new visa applications.
  • Embassy file preparation including invitation letters, school confirmations, or company documents.
  • Optional transport and hotel booking services for stress-free travel.

All paperwork is reviewed and pre-approved before travel, reducing waiting time and avoiding embassy rejections.

Passport pickup and extension-from-the-beach service

For our clients in Krabi, Ao Nang, and Koh Lanta, we offer a unique “extension from the beach” service. You don’t need to visit Immigration — our team collects your passport, processes the extension, and returns it with your new visa stamp within 24–48 hours. This convenience allows you to enjoy your time while we take care of every detail behind the scenes.

Accuracy, compliance, and transparency

Every visa or extension is handled under official Thai Immigration guidelines. We double-check your visa type, duration, and eligibility before any application to ensure it fully meets current regulations. Our team communicates clearly at every stage, providing transparent cost breakdowns and progress updates.

Trusted by long-term residents and business owners

Our client base includes long-stay residents, international investors, local entrepreneurs, language students, and families living in Southern Thailand. Many have remained with SiamConsult for years due to our consistency, precision, and discretion. We treat each client’s case with personal attention and care — managing deadlines, renewals, and compliance as if they were our own.

Local knowledge and bilingual expertise

Our bilingual Thai-English team bridges the gap between you and the Thai authorities. We understand how to prepare documents the way Immigration prefers — saving time and avoiding costly rejections. With deep local experience in Krabi and close relationships with officials, we ensure smooth communication and fast results.

Ongoing support and legal protection

Beyond your extension or visa run, SiamConsult provides continuous legal and accounting support for your life or business in Thailand. We assist with company compliance, work permits, social security, and local licensing — giving you a single, reliable partner for all official matters.

Our promise to you

With SiamConsult, you can relax knowing your immigration status is handled by professionals who care about your security, comfort, and time. Your stay in Thailand remains fully legal, comfortable, and effortless — you enjoy the beach and we do the work.
