Is Your Visa Soon Running Out?

Welcome to SiamConsult!
We understand how quickly time passes when you enjoy life in Thailand—and how stressful it can feel when your stay is about to expire. Whether you entered with a 60-day Visa Exemption, a Tourist Visa, or a Non-Immigrant Visa, we ensure you extend your stay or make a safe visa run before the deadline hits.

Our team checks your passport dates, prepares the latest 2026 forms, and schedules your Immigration visit in advance—so there’s no last-minute pressure. We guide you through 30-day extensions (for a total 90-day stay), one-year renewals, or border trips to Malaysia or Myanmar, depending on your visa type and your plans. You can rest assured that your stay will remain fully legal and uninterrupted.

If you are a traveler holding a Visa Exemption or Tourist Visa, we can arrange your 30-day extension directly at the Krabi or Phuket Immigration Office. We handle the queue management and document verification so you aren’t stuck in a waiting room all day.

Don’t let red tape ruin your holiday. We provide “Fast-Track” support, meeting you at Immigration with everything ready for your photo and stamp.

IMPORTANT: Never wait until the last few days. Since the 2024 update to 60-day entries, Immigration offices are busier than ever. Our team helps you plan your extension or visa run early to avoid 500 THB/day fines, entry bans, or the stress of overstaying.

A visa extension is an official approval from the Thai Immigration Bureau allowing you to stay in Thailand beyond your current permission period. It is a continuation of your existing stay. Extensions are usually for 30 or 60 days, depending on your visa type. SiamConsult prepares all paperwork and manages the process to ensure your extension is approved smoothly and on time.

1. Extension under Visa Exemption / Tourist Visa
  • 60-Day Visa Exemption: Most nationalities now receive a 60-day visa exemption upon arrival. This can be extended by 30 days at Immigration, bringing your total legal stay to 90 days.
  • Tourist Visas (TR): Both Single and Multiple-Entry Tourist Visas grant 60 days per entry, which can be extended by 30 days.
  • Attendance: Note that for 30-day extensions, Immigration requires you to be present for a live photo. SiamConsult provides Fast-Track assistance to minimize your wait time.
2. Limits and Risks on Visa Runs
  • Land Border Limits: Visa-exempt travelers are typically limited to two overland entries per calendar year.
  • Air Entry Review: While air entries have fewer hard limits, repeated “back-to-back” entries are subject to scrutiny by Immigration officers.
  • Proof of Stay: Always carry proof of 20,000 THB (or equivalent) in funds and a confirmed address (TM.30) to ensure a smooth re-entry.
3. What You Receive on Re-Entry
  • Upon re-entry via a visa run, most travelers receive a fresh 60-day stamp (depending on nationality).
  • This new entry can then be extended for another 30 days, repeating the 90-day cycle if needed.
4. New Long-Term Visa Options
  • Destination Thailand Visa (DTV): The premier choice for remote workers, allowing 180 days per entry, extendable for another 180 days.
  • Non-Immigrant Options: We specialize in Non-B (Work), Non-O (Family/Retirement), ED (Education), and LTR (Long-Term Resident) transitions.
  • SiamConsult advises when it is more cost-effective to switch from extensions to a 5-year or 10-year visa.
5. Overstay Penalties — Avoid at All Costs
  • Overstaying is a serious offense. Fines are 500 THB per day (up to 20,000 THB).
  • Overstays longer than 90 days result in a 5-year ban from entering Thailand. Always renew at least 7 days before your expiry date.

How SiamConsult Helps You

  • Expiry Tracking: We monitor your dates to ensure you never face an overstay fine.
  • Document Accuracy: We prepare all TM forms and verify your financial/address proofs meet 2026 standards.
  • Border Logistics: We arrange reliable transport and document preparation for Visa Runs to Malaysia or Myanmar.
  • Professional Liaison: We communicate directly with Immigration officers on your behalf to resolve any document issues.
Extend your stay, travel safely, and live legally in Thailand with SiamConsult.

2. Which visas can be extended?

Most visas can be extended at a local Immigration office (such as Krabi or Phuket), but the rules vary significantly by category. As of March 2026, here is the current status:

  • Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption: Standard 60-day entries can be extended once for +30 days, allowing a total stay of up to 90 days. Note: There is a government proposal to reduce the initial exemption to 30 days, but the 30-day extension remains a guarantee.
  • Non-Immigrant Visas (B, O, ED, Retirement): These are typically extended for up to 1 year at a time. The first extension usually grants 90 days or 1 year depending on your specific situation and documentation compliance.
  • DTV (Digital Nomad Visa): Grants 180 days per entry, which can be extended for another 180 days (one time per entry).
  • LTR and Smart Visas: These follow a specialized 5-year or 10-year renewal program directly through the BOI.
  • Transit Visas: These cannot be extended under any circumstances.

SiamConsult reviews your current visa type and ensures you meet the latest 2026 requirements—including the mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) updates—to keep your stay fully legal.

3. Can I get a 30-day extension without going to Immigration myself?

The short answer is: Generally, no. As of March 2026, Thai Immigration (especially in Krabi and Phuket) strictly requires the physical presence of the applicant. This is because a live digital photo and biometric check are mandatory for the 30-day extension stamp to be issued.

However, SiamConsult makes this process nearly effortless for you:

  • Fast-Track Preparation: We collect your passport and prepare all TM.7 forms and documentation in advance. You won’t have to deal with the paperwork or find a photo shop.

  • Queue Management: We handle the early morning queue and the initial filing. You only need to appear at a scheduled time for the 30-second photo and signature.

  • Official Fees & Stamps: We manage the 1,900 THB government fee and verify your stamp is 100% correct before you leave.

This service is ideal for travelers who want to avoid spending an entire day in a crowded Immigration office or navigating bureaucratic hurdles in a foreign language. With SiamConsult, your visit is reduced to a quick, professional formality.

As of March 2026, most travelers entering on a 60-day Visa Exemption or a Single-Entry Tourist Visa (TR) can apply for a single 30-day extension at a local Immigration office. This brings your total legal stay to 90 days within Thailand.

If you have already used your 30-day extension, your next option is a Border Run (Border Bounce). This involves a quick exit to a neighboring country (typically Malaysia or Myanmar) and an immediate re-entry. Upon your return, you will receive a fresh 60-day stamp, which can also be extended by another 30 days—effectively granting you another 90 days of legal stay.

SiamConsult manages the full logistics for these trips, providing private transport and ensuring all 2026 border documents are correctly filed so your re-entry is guaranteed and stress-free. If you plan to stay even longer, we recommend starting an In-Country Conversion to a Non-Immigrant O (Family/Retirement) or Non-ED (Education) visa at least 21 days before your current stamp expires.

A visa run occurs when you exit Thailand before your current stay expires and then re-enter the country to receive a fresh entry stamp or activate a new visa. As of March 2026, this is the primary way for travelers on the standard 60-day Visa Exemption to reset their stay for another 60+30 days after they have already used their local extension.

A visa run becomes necessary in several specific situations:

  • Exhausted Extensions: You have already used your 30-day extension at Immigration and need more time in Thailand.
  • New Visa Activation: You need to apply for a long-term visa (such as Non-B or Non-O) at a Thai Consulate abroad (e.g., Penang or Vientiane) because you do not meet the criteria for an “In-Country” conversion.
  • DTV Reset: You are holding a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and have completed your initial 180-day stay (or 180+180 days) and need a new entry stamp to reset your status.

Visa runs are perfectly legal and a normal part of long-stay management in Thailand. SiamConsult provides full logistics for these trips—including private transport to Ranong or Sadao and mandatory embassy appointment booking—ensuring your exit and re-entry are 100% compliant with the latest 2026 Immigration policies.

Which destinations are best for visa runs from Krabi or Phuket?

Southern Thailand offers multiple gateways for resetting your stay. Depending on your location (Krabi Town, Ao Nang, or Phuket), some routes are faster than others. SiamConsult provides private transport and document prep for all these official checkpoints.

1. Sadao / Bukit Kayu Hitam (Songkhla)
  • Type: Main Land Border (Most Reliable)
  • Travel: 7–8 hours from Krabi.
  • Best For: High-volume, fast processing of 60-day re-entry stamps.
2. Padang Besar (Songkhla)
  • Type: Rail & Land Border
  • Travel: Similar to Sadao.
  • Details: Ideal if you prefer traveling by train or want a slightly quieter land crossing than the main Sadao checkpoint.
3. Satun / Tammalang Pier (Ferry to Langkawi, Malaysia)
  • Type: Sea Border
  • Travel: 3–4 hours from Krabi to the pier.
  • Details: A scenic route. You take a ferry to Langkawi, get your Malaysian stamp, and return. Perfect for those who want to combine a visa run with a visit to Malaysia.
4. Wang Prachan / Wang Kelian (Satun)
  • Type: Land Border (National Park Route)
  • Travel: 4 hours from Krabi.
  • Details: A very quiet, beautiful mountain pass. It is often faster than Sadao because there are almost no queues.
5. Betong (Yala)
  • Type: Deep South Land Border
  • Details: Rarely used from Krabi due to the distance, but highly efficient if you are visiting the Yala region.
6. Ranong / Kawthaung (Myanmar) — *ADVISORY*
  • Current Status: As of March 2026, we advise against this route for standard border bounces due to ongoing instability in Myanmar. SiamConsult recommends the Satun or Sadao routes instead.

SiamConsult Expert Recommendation

For the fastest land reset from Krabi/Ao Nang, we recommend Wang Prachan. For a comfortable day trip, choose the Satun-Langkawi Ferry. For new visa applications (DTV/Non-O), Penang remains the gold standard.

Choose Your Visa Run Route

We offer two primary land-border options for same-day resets. Compare them below to see which fits your travel style.

FeatureWang Prachan (Satun)Sadao (Songkhla)

8. What are the 15-day, 30-day, and 60-day visa extensions?

Thailand offers several types of visa extensions depending on your current entry and purpose of stay. In March 2026, these are the most common options:

  • 15-Day Extension (Emergency Stay)
Granted in exceptional cases such as medical delays, flight cancellations, or document processing issues. Official supporting evidence (like a hospital certificate) is required. SiamConsult prepares the formal explanation letters to ensure your temporary stay is granted without legal friction.
  • 30-Day Extension (Tourist & Exemption)
The most common extension for travelers. Since the 2024 update, most visitors receive a 60-day stay on arrival; this extension adds +30 days, totaling 90 days. Note: While you must appear briefly at Immigration for a live digital photo, SiamConsult handles the “Passport Logistics”—preparing all forms and managing the queue so you are in and out in minutes.
  • 60-Day Extension (Family & Spouse)
For foreigners visiting or living with a Thai spouse, child, or parent. This requires original proof of relationship (Marriage or Birth Certificate), Thai ID copies, and local residence (TM.30) registration. SiamConsult handles the mandatory translations, certifications, and full submission to ensure approval.

If you have already used your available extensions or plan to stay long-term for business, study, or digital nomad life (DTV), SiamConsult arranges your next step. We coordinate new visa applications at Thai Embassies abroad (Penang, Vientiane, or Singapore), including:

  • Mandatory embassy appointment bookings.
  • Complete document “packets” for a 100% approval rate.
  • Full application preparation to keep your stay legal and uninterrupted.

Unsure which extension applies to you? Our team provides a free assessment of your current entry stamp to ensure you stay penalty-free.

9. Can I apply for a new visa abroad during my visa run?

Yes, absolutely. Thai Embassies and Consulates in Malaysia (Penang & KL), Laos (Vientiane & Savannakhet), and Singapore are the primary locations where you can apply for a fresh visa while out of the country.

As of March 2026, applying abroad is often the best choice if you have exhausted your extensions or do not qualify for an in-country conversion. SiamConsult ensures your trip is successful by managing the following:

  • Mandatory Appointments: Most regional embassies now require a pre-booked digital slot. We handle the 2026 online appointment booking for you before you leave Thailand.
  • Complete Document Prep: We prepare all invitation letters, company registration documents, or school confirmations (for ED Visas) to ensure your application is accepted on the first try.
  • New 2026 Options: We specialize in the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) application process at regional consulates—currently the most popular long-term choice for digital nomads and remote workers.

Don’t risk a visa denial and an expensive return flight. We make sure your application is 100% compliant with the specific requirements of the embassy you choose to visit.

15-Day Extension — Temporary or Emergency Stay

This is for unexpected situations like medical emergencies or flight delays. Required Documents:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Completed TM.7 Extension Application Form
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Supporting evidence (e.g., Hospital Certificate or Embassy Letter)
  • Processing: Usually same-day. SiamConsult prepares your explanation letter to ensure approval.
30-Day Extension — Tourist & Visa-Exempt Entries

As of 2026, most travelers enter on a 60-day exemption; this extension adds 30 days for a 90-day total stay. Required Documents:

  • Passport with a valid entry stamp
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm)
  • Completed TM.7 form
  • TM.30 Confirmation: Proof of residence from your hotel or landlord (Mandatory)
  • SiamConsult “Beach Service”: We collect your passport from your hotel in Krabi, Ao Nang, or Koh Lanta. While we handle the paperwork and queue management, please note that current 2026 regulations require a brief in-person photo at Immigration. We schedule this to take only minutes of your time.
60-Day Extension — Family or Relationship-Based Stay

For those visiting a Thai spouse, child, or parent. Required Documents:

  • Passport, TM.7 Form, Photo
  • Marriage or Birth Certificate (Original + Signed Copy)
  • Thai family members’ ID Card and House Registration (Tabien Baan)
  • Recent photos of the family together at the shared residence
  • Proof of address (TM.30)

Processing: Normally 1-2 working days. SiamConsult assists with all mandatory translations and certifications.

When a New Visa is Needed

If your extensions are exhausted, we coordinate your application at regional embassies. In 2026, these locations require mandatory online appointments:

  • Penang, Malaysia: Best for Non-B, Non-O, and DTV visas.
  • Vientiane/Savannakhet, Laos: Preferred for Marriage and Education visas.
  • Singapore: Best for premium business and long-term residency applications.

SiamConsult handles the full application package, embassy booking, and travel logistics so you can return to Thailand legally and stress-free.

11. How long does the extension process take?

If you visit the Immigration Office yourself: Expect to spend 3–5 hours on-site. While the final processing only takes 15–30 minutes once your number is called, the initial queues for document verification and the mandatory photo booth are significant in 2026.

If SiamConsult handles the process for you: Your total time commitment is reduced to a 5-minute “Fast-Track” visit. Under 2026 regulations, Thai Immigration strictly requires a live digital photo of the applicant for all 30-day extensions. We prepare all forms in advance and schedule your appointment so you skip the main queue entirely.

  • Meet our staff: We meet you at Immigration at a scheduled time.
  • Instant Photo: You step in for your 30-second photo and can return to the beach immediately.
  • Passport Return: Your passport is normally ready for pickup or delivery the next working day with the new stamp secured.

SiamConsult ensures your stay is extended without the headache of long queues and bureaucratic delays.

12. How often can I extend or renew my visa?

Tourist Visa and Visa-Exempt Entry

In 2026, most visitors enter on a 60-day Visa Exemption. This can be extended once for an additional 30 days at local Immigration, for a total of 90 days. After this, you must exit Thailand. You can then re-enter (subject to entry limits) or apply for a new visa at a Thai Embassy abroad.

Non-Immigrant Visas (B, O, ED, Retirement)

  • Non-B (Business/Employment): Renewed yearly. Requires valid company documentation, tax filings, and labor compliance.
  • Non-O (Marriage/Family): Renewed yearly. Requires proof of relationship and a seasoned bank balance (400,000 THB for marriage).
  • Non-ED (Education): Typically renewed every 90 days. Requires school attendance records and Ministry of Education approval.
  • Retirement (Non-O or OA): Renewed yearly. Requires 800,000 THB in a Thai bank or a certified monthly pension of 65,000 THB.
  • DTV (Destination Thailand Visa): Valid for 5 years with 180-day stays. Can be extended once per entry for another 180 days in-country.

90-Day Reporting (TM.47)

If you stay in Thailand longer than 90 consecutive days, you must file an address report. This is a 2026 mandatory requirement for all long-stay categories. SiamConsult can file this online or in person for you to ensure you never miss a deadline.

Visa Run Limitations and Restrictions

Immigration officers monitor entry patterns to ensure visitors are not using short-stay entries for permanent residency. Current 2026 guidelines:

  • Land Borders: Most nationalities are strictly limited to two visa-exempt entries per calendar year.
  • Air Arrivals: No fixed limit, but frequent “back-to-back” entries may trigger questioning regarding your source of funds and purpose of stay.
  • Proof of Funds: Officers may request to see 20,000 THB in cash (or equivalent) upon entry.

When to Extend, Renew, or Travel

  • Extension: Done inside Thailand to add 30 or 60 days to your current stamp.
  • Renewal: Done inside Thailand to maintain your 1-year long-term status.
  • Visa Run: A quick trip to a land border (Sadao or Wang Prachan) to reset a 60-day stay.
  • New Visa Application: A trip to a Thai Embassy (Penang, Vientiane, or Singapore) to change your visa category (e.g., from Tourist to Non-O).

SiamConsult Expert Handling

We provide full tracking and reminders for your visa expiry and 90-day reports. From document checking and translations to Immigration representation, we manage the entire timeline so you can focus on your life in Thailand.

13. What happens if I overstay my visa?

Overstaying is a serious offense in Thailand. Thai Immigration continues to enforce strict penalties to ensure visitors maintain legal status.

Fines and Immediate Penalties:

  • Daily Fine: 500 THB per day of overstay.
  • Maximum Fine: The financial penalty is capped at 20,000 THB.
  • Payment: Paid at the airport, border, or local Immigration Office when clearing the overstay.

Blacklisting and Deportation:

If you surrender voluntarily (at the airport or border), the bans are as follows:

  • Overstay > 90 Days: 1-year ban from Thailand.
  • Overstay > 1 Year: 3-year ban from Thailand.
  • Overstay > 3 Years: 5-year ban from Thailand.
  • Overstay > 5 Years: 10-year ban from Thailand.

Warning: If you are arrested by the police or Immigration while overstaying (before you surrender), you face immediate detention in the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) and a mandatory 5-year ban for any overstay less than one year.

SiamConsult strongly recommends contacting us at least 7 days before your expiry date. We provide emergency extensions and urgent visa runs to ensure your stay remains 100% legal and penalty-free.

14. Can I change my visa type inside Thailand?

Yes. In many cases, you can legally change your visa status while remaining inside Thailand. This is officially known as a “Change of Visa Status” (Form TM.86 or TM.87) and must be completed before your current stay permit expires.

When and why you might change your visa type:

  • Employment: You entered as a tourist but have now secured a job or started a company (Conversion to Non-B).
  • Family: You are married to a Thai national or have a Thai child (Conversion to Non-O Marriage/Dependent).
  • Education: You have enrolled in a licensed school or university (Conversion to Non-ED).
  • Retirement: You are 50+ and wish to switch to a long-stay retirement status (Conversion to Non-O Retirement).
  • Digital Nomad/Remote Work: You wish to convert to the 5-year DTV (Destination Thailand Visa).

Eligibility and Timing:

To be eligible for an in-country conversion, you typically need at least 15 working days remaining on your current stamp. SiamConsult specializes in these conversions from both Tourist Visas and Visa-Exempt entries. Note: If you have less than 15 days, a “Visa Run” to a nearby embassy may be required instead.

Documents Normally Required:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months).
  • Copy of your current entry stamp and TM.30 (Address Registration).
  • For Non-B: Company registration, tax papers, and employment contract.
  • For Non-O (Marriage): Thai marriage certificate, spouse’s ID, and Tabien Baan (House Book).
  • For Non-ED: School license, Ministry of Education approval, and tuition receipts.
  • For Retirement: Proof of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank or a 65,000 THB monthly pension.

Processing Time and Approval:

Processing usually takes 15–30 days for the full approval cycle. For certain categories like Marriage or Business, Immigration may conduct a brief interview or home/office inspection. SiamConsult coordinates these visits and represents you throughout the entire process to ensure a successful outcome.

SiamConsult handles the complex paperwork and coordination with Krabi and Phuket Immigration, allowing you to maintain your continuous legal stay without the need for international travel.

16. How do I extend a Non-Immigrant “O” (Marriage or Retirement) visa?

Extending a long-term Non-O visa requires careful financial timing and specific documentation. In March 2026, the requirements are as follows:

Marriage Visa Extension (Thai Spouse)

To extend your stay based on marriage, you must provide proof of a genuine relationship and financial stability.

  • Marriage Certificate: Original plus signed copies (officially translated if married abroad).
  • Thai Spouse Documents: Original Thai ID Card and House Registration (Tabien Baan).
  • Financial Proof: Proof of 400,000 THB in a Thai bank (deposited for at least 2 months prior) OR a certified monthly income of at least 40,000 THB.
  • Evidence of Co-habitation: Recent photos of you and your spouse together inside and outside your residence, plus a hand-drawn map to your home.

Note: Immigration often conducts a brief home visit for first-time marriage extensions. SiamConsult coordinates this visit to ensure a smooth process.

Retirement Visa Extension (Age 50+)

For those aged 50 and above, the extension focuses primarily on financial self-sufficiency.

  • Financial Proof (Option A): 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account. This money must be “seasoned” (held in the account) for 2 months before the application and 3 months after the extension is granted.
  • Financial Proof (Option B): A certified monthly pension of at least 65,000 THB (confirmed by your Embassy or detailed bank statements).
  • Health Insurance: While the standard Non-O Retirement often does not require insurance, the Non-OA (Long Stay) visa strictly requires a policy with minimum coverage (currently 4,000,000 THB for inpatient care).
  • Address Proof: Valid TM.30 registration.

How SiamConsult Assists:
We verify that your bank seasoning is perfect before you step into the Immigration office. We also handle all document certifications, translations, and the preparation of the 30+ page application file required for these categories in Krabi and Phuket.

17. Can students extend their Education (ED) visa?

Yes. Students enrolled at a licensed, Ministry of Education (MOE)-approved school in Thailand can extend their Education (ED) visa legally inside the country.

In March 2026, Immigration oversight of ED visas remains high to ensure applicants are genuine students. SiamConsult coordinates with your school and Immigration to manage these strict requirements.

1) Eligibility for ED Visa Extension
  • Enrolled in a language school, university, or institution recognized by the MOE.
  • Attendance: You must meet minimum attendance requirements (usually 80%). Immigration now regularly audits school logs.
  • Current Status: You must hold a valid Non-Immigrant ED visa with at least 15 days remaining.
2) Documents Required (2026 Standard)
  • Passport with valid ED visa and current entry stamp.
  • Completed TM.7 extension form.
  • 1 passport photo (4×6 cm).
  • Updated School Packet: Letter of enrollment, attendance certificate, and MOE approval letter (signed and dated within 30 days).
  • School’s MOE license copy and official location map.
  • TM.30: Proof of address registration from your landlord.
  • 1,900 THB Immigration fee.
3) Knowledge and Language Checks

For language students (Thai, English, etc.), Immigration officers in Krabi and Phuket now frequently conduct basic language tests during the 90-day extension interview. They may ask simple questions in the language you are studying to verify you are actually learning. SiamConsult provides tips on what to expect during these brief interviews.

4) Extension Process and Timeline

ED visas are typically extended in 90-day increments. Each renewal must be filed before your current permission expires.

  • Step 1: School prepares documents (usually takes 7–14 days).
  • Step 2: SiamConsult reviews and completes the application file.
  • Step 3: You visit Immigration for a mandatory digital photo (Fast-tracked by our team).
  • Step 4: Passport is stamped with the new 90-day validity.
5) Common Reasons for Rejection
  • Applying with less than 7 working days remaining on your visa.
  • Poor attendance records or failing the basic language check.
  • The school’s MOE license is expired or under investigation.
6) SiamConsult Full Student Support

With nearly two decades of experience in Southern Thailand, we ensure your ED visa remains lawful. We verify school compliance, manage all 90-day reporting (TM.47), and coordinate with the MOE so you can focus entirely on your studies.

18. My passport is being renewed — can I still extend my visa?

Yes. Immigration can issue a temporary extension or a “pending” stamp while your new passport is being processed by your embassy.

As of March 2026, the process for maintaining your legal status during a passport renewal is as follows:

  • Embassy Confirmation: You must obtain an official letter from your Embassy or Consulate in Thailand. This letter confirms that your new passport is currently being processed and includes your old passport details.
  • Temporary Stay: Based on this letter, Krabi or Phuket Immigration can grant a temporary stay extension (usually 15–30 days) to bridge the gap until your new document arrives.
  • Transfer of Stamp: Once your new passport is in your hands, you must complete a Transfer of Stamp (Form TM.89). This moves your current visa and latest entry details from the old passport to the new one.

How SiamConsult Assists:
We coordinate the timing between your Embassy and the local Immigration Office to ensure your stay remains uninterrupted. We also handle the full Transfer of Stamp application, including the mandatory photocopies and coordination with the duty officer, so you don’t have to navigate the paperwork yourself.

Important 2026 Tip: Do not wait until your last 3 days of stay to begin this process. Most embassies take 2–6 weeks to issue new passports. SiamConsult recommends starting this coordination as soon as you have your embassy appointment.

19. Do I always need to report to Immigration every 90 days?

Yes. Every foreigner who stays in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days must submit a TM.47 – 90-Day Report to confirm their current residential address.

This is a legal obligation under the Immigration Act, separate from your visa extension. It applies to all long-term visa holders, including Non-B, Non-O, ED, Retirement, and LTR. Even if your visa is valid for one year, the TM.47 must be filed every 90 days within that period.

1) Who must file a 90-day report?
  • All foreigners who have stayed in Thailand for 90 days or longer without leaving the country.
  • If you leave Thailand and re-enter, your 90-day count resets to zero on the day you return.
2) Accepted Methods of Filing (2026 Standards)
  • In Person: At your local Immigration Office (e.g., Krabi or Phuket).
  • By Authorized Representative: SiamConsult can handle this for you with a signed copy of your passport.
  • Online: Via the official Thai Immigration “E-Service” portal or the mobile app. Note: Online reporting is now highly reliable in 2026 but must be done between 15 and 7 days before your due date.
  • By Registered Mail: Must be sent at least 15 days before the due date.
3) Documents Required for In-Person Filing
  • Original Passport.
  • Completed TM.47 Report of Residence Form.
  • Photocopies of the passport ID page and your latest entry/visa stamps.
  • Your previous 90-day notification receipt (the small slip in your passport).
  • TM.30 Confirmation: Proof that your current landlord has registered your stay.
4) Deadlines and Penalties

The report must be submitted within 15 days before or 7 days after the due date. Failure to report results in:

  • A fine of 2,000 THB for late reporting (voluntary).
  • A fine of up to 5,000 THB if you are arrested or checked by police and found to have not reported.
5) SiamConsult’s 90-Day Management Service

We include 90-day reporting as a core part of our visa maintenance program. Our service includes:

20. Why choose SiamConsult for visa extensions and border runs?

Because timing, accuracy, and local experience truly matter when dealing with Thai Immigration.

SiamConsult has over 16 years of proven experience assisting foreigners, residents, and business owners across Krabi, Ao Nang, Koh Lanta, Phuket, Phang Nga, and Southern Thailand. We understand the local procedures and the officials, ensuring your immigration matters are handled precisely and stress-free.

Complete Visa and Immigration Management

We handle every aspect of your stay—from initial entry and extensions to 90-day reports and full embassy coordination. Our process includes:

  • Document Verification: Rigorous pre-checks to ensure 100% compliance before submission.
  • Form Preparation: Expert completion of all TM.7, TM.47, and TM.30 forms and supporting letters.
  • Logistics: Secure passport handling and direct coordination with Immigration officers.
  • Personal Representation: We advocate for your case to ensure smooth and timely approvals.

Full Border Run and Embassy Coordination

Whether you need a same-day border reset or a new visa from abroad, we plan your trip from start to finish:

  • Land Border Runs: Reliable transport to Wang Prachan (Satun) or Sadao (Songkhla) with professional document assistance at the border.
  • Embassy Visa Trips: Full “Visa Packets” for applications in Penang, Vientiane, or Singapore, including the mandatory 2026 digital appointment bookings.
  • New 2026 Visa Types: Specialized support for the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) and long-term LTR applications.

The “Fast-Track” Extension Service

For our clients in Krabi, Ao Nang, and Koh Lanta, we offer a specialized service that saves you hours of waiting. Under 2026 regulations, most extensions require a brief in-person digital photo at Immigration. We prepare all your paperwork in advance and schedule your visit so you skip the 4-hour queue—getting you back to the beach in minutes.

Accuracy, Compliance, and Transparency

Every extension is handled according to the latest 2026 Thai Immigration guidelines. We provide transparent cost breakdowns and clear progress updates at every stage. Our bilingual Thai-English team bridges the communication gap, ensuring your documents are presented exactly how the officers prefer them.

Trusted by Long-Term Residents

Our client base includes international investors, remote workers, students, and families who have trusted us for years. We manage your deadlines and renewals as if they were our own, providing a single, reliable partner for all official matters in Southern Thailand.

With SiamConsult, you can relax knowing your immigration status is handled by professionals. Your stay in Thailand remains fully legal, comfortable, and effortless—you enjoy the beach, and we do the work.
